Well, you’ve come to the right place!

We are kicking off this summer with this simple, easy, and fun to make Virgin Watermelon Mojito! 🍉🌱 Oh, and don’t worry – it has all the citrulline you can ask for! What’s citrulline, you ask? Well as we mentioned in the previous paragraph, watermelons are both delicious AND nutritious. Thus, there are many health benefits that you can confidently share with your guests, all while hearing them talk about how tasty and refreshing your watermelon mojito is.

THE BENEFITS

Focusing on the main ingredient itself (watermelon), this superfood has the restorative properties and functional compounds to provide sore muscle pain relief. In fact, in a Researcher led study conducted on a group of men who engaged in intense physical activity, those individuals who drank two cups of fresh-blended watermelon reported to be less sore than the group of men who drank a placebo drink, free of watermelon.

Another added bonus of watermelon is its natural presence of citrulline found within. Citrulline is an amino acid made naturally in the body, found in foods such as watermelon and is also available as a dietary supplement. Increasing your intake of foods rich in citrulline may increase blood flow by increasing nitric oxide production, while also having positive effects on your blood vessels, and assisting men with erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow, as well as exercise performance.

THE RECIPE
  • 1/2 to 2/3 of a fresh large seeded watermelon
  • Approximately 30 fresh mint leaves, plucked from the stem
  • 3 limes, freshly squeezed

Adding all of the ingredients to a large (56 to 72 oz) blender, cut up 1/2 to 2/3 of a fresh watermelon, into smaller slices or chunks. Using your hand, pluck the fresh mint leaves from its stem. Before cutting your limes, use your palm to press the limes down on a countertop and roll them. This will make make the process of squeezing your limes much easier. Cut your limes into half and then squeeze the juice from them into your blender, along with the rest of your ingredients. Add ice, blend and enjoy 😌

Note: You may also add ice to the serving glass instead.

To make this drink “non-virgin” 🍸 you may add your favorite vodka, watermelon rum or watermelon Margherita mix.
